Chaired by Dr Orville “Shaggy” Burrell, and co-founded by him, Judith Bodley and Sharon Burke, the Island Music Conference IMC, had its successful inaugural staging February 8th thru 12th, 2023 in the Creative city of Kingston Jamaica. The IMC is an informational hub for artistes and music professionals in Jamaica and throughout the region.
The 2023 conference, attended by Barbados, Grenada, Trinidad, Guyana, SVG, St. Lucia, Cayman, the United States, Canada and London, had 20 impacting panel discussions which included a full day hosted by a five-member team from YOUTUBE- headed by Tuma Basa. The team instructed content providers (influences, singers, songwriters, producers) on new formats manipulation and monetization, looking definitively at success on the platform.
The February 21st thru 25th 2024 IMC conference will feature speakers from the Soca, Reggae, Dancehall, Hip Hop and Afro Beats fraternities to name a few, offering insight into practical strategies and tools to propel the careers of music professionals for the betterment of the sector as a whole. Experts will also focus on successful formats and techniques for music, video and animation production.
