Gabrielle Blackwood

Gabrielle is a Jamaican Director and Director of Photography who has written, directed and shot short films, documentaries, music videos and commercials for the US, Canadian, UK and Jamaican market. Gabrielle’s films have screened at: The American Black Film Festival, The Hampton’s International Film Festival, Cambridge International Film Festival, LA Film & Script Film Festival, Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards, Impact Doc Awards, The Lincoln Center and the Havana Film Festival amongst many others. Her commercial clients include: Adidas, Clarks, Nike, Billboard and Mercedes Benz. Additionally, the music videos and documentaries she's shot have featured various musical artistes including: Buju Banton, Koffee, Mick Jenkins, Protoje, Nomaddz, Lila Ike, Sevana, Naomi Cowan and Tessellated.

Also an avid writer, Gabrielle is currently in pre-production as writer/director for two narrative features and two feature documentaries. She is the recipient of the Geoff Evans Award for Excellence in Screen Production in New Zealand, holds a Masters (Hons) in Screen Production from the University of Auckland, is a past President of the Jamaica Film & Television Association (JAFTA), is a Shane Hurlbut Filmmaker’s Academy mentor and resides in Kingston as an independent filmmaker.
