Damon "Doc" Johnson is more than a DJ, he’s a force of nature, a rhythmic alchemist who transforms sound into experiences and moments into memories. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, his musical roots run deep, beginning with the smooth strings of a viola before he discovered his true passion: the turntables. At just 13, Doc felt the pulse of music in his hands, and from that moment on, he was unstoppable.
His path wasn’t always easy. Before stepping into his destiny, Doc grinded through sales, retail, and customer service, waiting for the moment when passion could finally overtake obligation. That moment came when he took a leap of faith, and landed an unpaid internship at WRSV Choice FM 92.1 in North Carolina. What started as a risk quickly turned into a reign, as Doc climbed from intern to show host and eventually, Music Director. He’s on a mission to rebrand radio as a community staple, bringing music, history, and education together in ways that hit different.
A true visionary, Doc has interviewed some of the biggest names in entertainment like Kerry Washington, Chris Paul III and Grammy Award Winning artist. Rapsody. Doc’s passion extends beyond the spotlight, as he  is a champion of hip-hop’s legacy, a celebrator of its power, and an educator of its impact. His innovative presentation on how S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) learning intersects with hip-hop has already captivated audiences at Duke University and the NC History Museum, and soon, it will be a nationwide movement.
But Doc isn’t just here to play records - he’s here to build an empire. Through his companies, My DJ Ent. and Hussle House Apparel, he’s crafting an entire ecosystem of music, culture, and style. As a wedding and event DJ & Host, he turns celebrations into cinematic experiences, ensuring that every beat, every drop, and every moment resonates long after the music fades.
The road ahead is limitless, and Doc is driving full speed. Stay locked in, because this journey is one you don’t want to miss.
